Great location - right off the I-80 freeway but surprisingly quiet. Nice shade trees and grassy strips. Price reflects 10% Good Sam discount and 5% less for paying in cash. Pool looked clean and was obviously getting good use (it was over 90 degrees here today). Also would like to recommend a fabulous restaurant if anyone reading likes Japanese food. It's called "Tempura" and is at 221 on 6th St. And if you're in luck, Becky will be working - what a sweet gal. Great food!! Pretty surprising to find such a good Japanese place here, but it made it that much more of a treat!
We're really glad we found this place! It's right off the US-40 (and just a few miles west of town), but is amazingly quiet and peaceful. My husband's work often depends on internet access, and the wifi here is excellent - better than any at any other campground we've stayed at (and we've stayed at many!!!). It's at least as good/fast as our cable broadband at home! Apparently, the owner has experimented with different types and locations over the past year or two but has recently come up with the perfect high-speed wireless set-up. The owner is very friendly, easy-going, and always checking on things to make sure all is working properly. It is a pretty new park, so the trees have yet to grow to provide shade, but the area is surrounded by beautiful scenery. And if you get an answering machine when you call, be sure and leave a message - he's a busy guy, but he'll get back to you! And to that reviewer who thought they should have gone on to "that other campground" - I highly recommend they read the reviews for it first!!!! Eagle Soaring has better reviews and is priced competitively.
Pros: Nice, park-like setting with lots of mowed area to walk dogs (and cats!). Location? (not sure how many other campgrounds were in this area) Cons: Owner OK but not too friendly, place feels like they don't really care if you have a good stay or not: "here's our KOA, take it or leave it." There's also a lot of highway noise during the day. There is very low water pressure!! Driving your rig through the campground is a bit difficult. Instead of making larger roads and wider, easier turn areas, they put rock obstacles on all the corners!
I see this park has had some kind of negative ratings. I want to balance those out by reinforcing the positive ones I can now testify to - the beautiful location and park-like feel!! I never used the bathrooms/showers (didn't need to - we were in an RV and had full hook-ups for the first two nights), but they did look run-down all right. The office is also a bit like a cave -maybe they were trying to lower their electricity bill by leaving the lights off? So I can understand the lower ratings because of these things. However, this place is on the St. Louis River and has waterfront trail all along its edge, as well as being a block away from the Willard Munger trail. Even though much of the weather was cold, rainy, and windy during our stay, I loved walking our dogs on the trail and hanging out on the dock, looking at the beautiful scenery. Staying at the campground, I forgot all the city life surrounding us! And there were fireflies along the water's edge as well! What a treat!!!
This is a nice, quiet campground, offering many shaded sites. The town of Kewaunee has a lovely harbor. It is on the southern edge of Door County, and after exploring Door, I'm glad we didn't travel so many more miles through all the touristy traffic jams with the motorhome, only to find a less-decent, more expensive campsite! The only downside is no cable TV and the advertised Wi-Fi is only in the office.
Generally, we've come to rely on KOAs as providing consistently decent campgrounds. But this one definitely ranked lower on our list! This was primarily due to the poor layout, overcrowding, and mixed-in permanent/seasonal residents. If you're into the pink flamingo look, this place is for you! If you don't, look elsewhere! And if you like getting lost and knocking on RV doors for help (as one poor lady did with us one night, and I saw one other bewildered person walking around during daylight, obviously unsure of where their RV had gotten to!), then you'll love it here! It was just OK, although obviously popular - maybe because of location/fishing opportunities? But I wish we hadn't hurried so much in making reservations at the last minute and had tried another place instead!
This campground had a lot of positives! It's a wonderful green, peaceful oasis, right in the middle of Salt Lake City! It's only a few blocks from the Temple Center. And it borders the Jordan River, which makes for a very convenient and pretty dog walk area!! We'd definitely recommend this place to others staying in the area!
Very nicely landscaped (with some little trees turning all sorts of beautiful fall colors!). Great spots with concrete or asphalt for the RV/tow vehicle parking but grass alongside. Trees surround the park. Do know that there are no refunds (not an issue for us, but something folks should be aware of!). Also, they require that you have blocks under your jacks to protect their surfaces. Nice location near (but not in) Eugene. Right off I-5, on Highway 58. Some reviews said highway noise was a bit of a problem, so I asked for a site farther from the road, and that helped a lot. Nice staff. Many RVers were there for extended stays (e.g., for the whole summer), but they have fairly high standards for RV appearances, and also all owners seemed to take pride in keeping all their stuff looking nice. Nothing junky-looking here. Would stay here again.
Wow! What a view!! I had read negative reviews on this place but realized they were mostly about crowding issues in the summer, which would probably not be applicable to us in Oct./Nov. And they weren't! There were only a few other RVs and a couple of folks using the Kabins. Whether by park manager design or happy coincidence, no rigs were put in sites in front of us, which would've obliterated our wonderful view. Because this KOA is on a bluff, it's possible to get great views of the Alsea Bay Bridge and the bay. The camp manager and staff were very friendly and helpful. And some of their kids even went RV to RV on Halloween night GIVING out little bags of candy!! We're sorry to be leaving. This is the first campground that has inspired me to sign up and do reviews! The price I quoted was including the KOA member 10% discount.
We had a bad experience here and won't be returning! We had spent all day driving up there from San Diego and were tired and ready to stop. We ended up accidentally missing the office and getting lost and stuck in a place where we didn't know where to go next and wouldn't be able to turn around without unhooking our tow vehicle. I had to hunt someone down to help us figure out how/where to check in. And because they wouldn't answer his walkie-talkie calls, he had to take me all the way to the office, get me checked in, and then take me the fairly long ways back to our vehicle. He escorted us to our site and then proceeded to direct us through in a way that left us with the hook-ups on the wrong side! So, we had to get back out and figure out how to get in facing the right direction. And even though the site was supposed to be a "pull-through," we had to unhook our vehicle AND go diagonally through our neighbor's site (thank goodness it was vacant!) in order to both get out and to get back in because of concrete poles they had on both ends of the site driveway that made turning in/exiting impossible!!! All in all, it took way too long to accomplish, and the site was definitely not as advertised! And all this for a place that's the most expensive we've stayed at by far!!! The only positive things I can say about it are that it has a nice little dog park area and that the grounds are grassy with trees and fairly nice (although be careful walking around - the ground is very uneven!). I was so mad after that experience, I emailed the general KOA office. That was nearly a month ago, and I haven't heard anything back - and probably won't. Disappointing. And it wasn't just our ignorance that got us disoriented on check-in! As we were leaving the next day, we witnessed at least two other RV drivers experiencing equal confusion (going in the wrong place, coming back out, and having to attempt a challenging U-turn). The signage there is awful!!! Beware!!
